ICC staff meets with affected communities and journalists in Northern Uganda, talking about the next steps in the Dominic Ongwen case

On screen, lawyers are seen presenting their arguments. In the ICC courtroom, Dominic Ongwen follows the appeals hearing. 

In Gulu town, the team broadcast hearings daily, and streamed the sounds from the Courtroom on local radio stations. ICC staff talks with the affected communities during breaks and answers journalists’ questions live on air. What are the next steps in the case, they all ask. Reparations proceedings are on the way, and we are waiting for the final appeals judgment on the verdict and the sentence, they hear as the answer.

The ICC team visits Coorom, Dominic Ongwen’s birthplace. People gather around the radio, and listen to the streaming of the hearing.

Radio listening clubs also took place in the village of Lukodi, located some 15 kilometres away from Gulu. Through a radio speaker in front of them, sounds from the ICC Courtroom reach victims of the May 2004 attack on the village. Following the hearing, the team meets with Acholi leaders to discuss the next phase in Ongwen's proceedings.
